Automatic Migration
Recommended
Open the extension
Click the Right Click Prompt icon in Chrome. If you have existing V1 prompts, you'll see a "Welcome to V2" message.
Review your data
The welcome modal shows how many folders and prompts were found. This is your V1 data ready to migrate.
Sign up to sync
Click "Sign up to sync to the cloud". Create your account and your prompts will be uploaded automatically.
Done!
Your prompts are now synced across all your devices. Access them from the dashboard or any Chrome browser.
Manual Export/Import
From Extension
- 1Open the extension sidebar (click the icon)
- 2Click "Export" at the bottom of the sidebar
- 3Save the JSON file to your computer
- 4Create an account at rightclickprompt.com
- 5Click "Import" in the dashboard header
- 6Select your backup file
- 7Wait for the import to complete
From Dashboard
- 1Log into rightclickprompt.com
- 2Click "Import" in the header
- 3Select any JSON backup (V1, V2, or generic format)
- 4Watch the progress toast as folders import
- 5Your prompts appear in "My Prompts"
Important Notes
- Your V1 data stays safe until you migrate
- Both V1 and V2 JSON formats are supported
- Up to 100 prompts per folder (was limited in V1)
- Download a backup before migrating (recommended)
- You can import the same backup multiple times
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose my prompts?
No. Your V1 data stays in local storage until you choose to migrate. The migration copies your data to the cloud - it doesn't delete anything.
What if import fails?
Check that your file is valid JSON. Try re-exporting from the extension. If you still have issues, join our Discord or email support@rightclickprompt.com.
Can I use both V1 and V2?
V2 is the evolution of V1. Once you upgrade, the extension works in V2 mode with cloud sync. There's no separate V1 to go back to.
What about my folder organization?
Your folder structure is preserved exactly as it was. Folder names, prompt order, everything stays the same after migration.
